It started with silly challenges and ended with something extraordinary: proof that when people who care get together, anything is possible.

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was thrilled to be featured on Jordan's Way, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting underfunded shelters through their Facebook livestream events. Getting silly for a great cause is exactly our style! During our segment, we showcased our mission while raising critical funds: not just for ourselves, but for our fellow rescue organizations affected by the devastating July floods.
Pepper, Thor, and Teddy stole the spotlight during the livestream.
The energy was infectious as we shared our story with viewers, all while knowing that 50% of the proceeds would go directly to help our sister shelters rebuild and continue their lifesaving work.
Supporting Our Sister Shelters
We're honored to donate 50% of our Jordan's Way proceeds to three incredible organizations that stepped up during this summer's devastating floods.

Saving Shelter Strays (Bandera)
When flooding hit Kerrville, this amazing team didn't hesitate to help. They transported 21 dogs to Washington to make room for flood-displaced animals. Their motto says it all: "Together we can save Texas throw-aways, one dog (and kitties too!) at a time."

365 Pet Connection
These foster heroes specialize in caring for nursing mothers and believe deeply in collaboration. They partnered with local food pantries to distribute nearly 100 pounds of pet food monthly to flood-affected families. As they say, "Saving one animal won't change the world, but surely it will change the world for that one animal."

San Saba County Friends of Animals
After losing nearly everything in two floods within one week, they immediately partnered with the Red Cross to help other families in need. Executive Director Regina Baker's words capture their spirit perfectly: "Whatever we have to give, it's yours." They're now caring for 72 animals while rebuilding.

Stronger Together
These floods reminded us why collaboration matters so much in animal rescue. When crisis strikes, no single organization can handle it alone; but together, we become something powerful. Each transport truck, each bag of donated food, each foster home opened represents our shared commitment to animals in need.
At HLCR, we've always believed that rescue work isn't just about the animals we save directly. It's about being part of a network of compassionate people who refuse to give up on vulnerable creatures. When our sister shelters needed help, stepping up wasn't just the right thing to do; it was who we are as part of the Texas rescue community.
The bonds we've built with Saving Shelter Strays, 365 Pet Connection, and San Saba County Friends of Animals go far beyond this single fundraiser. We're part of something bigger: a movement of people who believe every animal deserves a chance at love and safety.
Because when we work together, we don't just save individual animals, we transform entire communities. And that's a mission worth getting messy for.
Together, we're building a brighter future for shelter animals across Texas.
