A Sanctuary For Dogs
Take a look at the foundation that makes our mission possible. Highland Lakes Canine Rescue sits on 15 acres of land, with room and amenities that allow our dogs to thrive in a safe and clean environment as they wait for their forever homes.

Critical Care
The Carole Ann Keiffer Care Facility is a space that specifically targets those in desperate need of sanctuary, healing and hope of a happier future in a loving home. It houses dogs in our Diamonds in the Ruff program, with special needs such as:
-
Mothers & puppies
-
Severe mange
-
Heartworm Disease
-
Intense Surgery Recovery
-
Disability
-
And more
Quarantine
This part of our facility marks the beginning of our dogs' journey to finding forever homes. Despite the scary name, the Quarantine section actually plays a key role in introducing new dogs to the facility while being mindful of the health of dogs that are settled in. Quarantine allows a period of health and behavioral assessment, as well as private staff access to monitor, assess and learn more about them within this dedicated zone. This is also a place of recovery for any procedures or illnesses.
General
General is our vibrant community space where healed and healing dogs enjoy enriching social lives while waiting for their forever homes. Here, dogs play together in supervised groups, build confidence through positive interactions, and go on exciting walks with dedicated volunteers who shower them with attention and care. This safe, nurturing environment allows each dog to showcase their unique personality and maintain their physical and emotional well-being, ensuring they're happy, healthy, and ready to bring joy to their future families.
