There is a quiet crisis unfolding in our partner shelters. As puppy season arrives, the sheer number of incoming litters has overwhelmed available space. Heartbreakingly, dozens of healthy puppies are being euthanized every single week simply because there is nowhere for them to go.
At Highland Lakes Canine Rescue, we believe every small life deserves a beginning. We are looking for compassionate foster heroes to open their hearts and homes for a few weeks at a time. Fostering is a rewarding journey that costs you nothing but your time and affection. We provide the supplies, the medical care, and the support you need. We're celebrating three very special dogs and the incredible journeys that brought them to their forever homes.
Ozzy arrived in our care heartworm positive, facing a long road to recovery. Edgar came to us from a hoarded home shared with over 100 other dogs, having never known what it meant to be truly seen. Freya was so overwhelmed with parasites when she arrived that she could barely lift her head. Each of them had every reason to lose hope, and not one of them did.
Now, all three are thriving with loving families who were searching for their perfect match and found exactly that.
